Where does one place an engine block heater at?

I will second what Tiha says, I'm way up north and go weeks at a time below zero with stints down in the -40's. A good battery and starter is all you need to get your engine started, but will concede that if you want to just jump in and go, a block heater can help. Otherwise you should start...

    1979 Bronco gauge

That is a vacuum gauge, it shows the economy/load of your engine. Not sure about finding a stock replacement, Ive actually never seen one of our trucks that had a factory vacuum gauge, but any aftermarket one should be a plug and play.

    400 Cam

for what your doin and a stock 400, swapping the rear end gears will get you more than the cam will.  id still say the carb and intake are a "must".  it all depends on the work your willing to put in, a cam swap can be some hard stuff.  if youve got a tool to hammer in the new bearings, sweet...

    Performance out of a 400

Dont know where your build is now, but ill try to talk you back into the 400.  I built a pretty mean 400 last summer out of a 351M, and NAPA and oreilly's sells forged cranks for the 400, i re-used the stock forged 351 connecting rods.  Tmeyer inc makes tons of parts for builds like this and...

    400 Cam

I was in a similar dilemma as you are now, i rebuilt my 351 and converted to a 400.  I spent almost two years in research before starting the project.  To get to the point, i went with a cam from a Cleveland xe-256H-10.  Thats probably not exactly what your looking for, its got a semi-choppy...

    carb and kick down rod

when i upgraded to an edelbrock performer intake and 4bbl, i also had to buy an adapter kit from them, to fit the 'special' ford transmission kickdown lever, just look up the carb manual online and you should be able to find part numbers. you may need to add your own custom extension on the...

    400M Rebuild

Thats all personal preference really, I prefer the 78-79, or full size, bronco. I bought my truck two days after my 16 birthday and started wrenching on it that day. It has had plenty of problems, but I have been able to do everything myself, including the entire engine rebuild. These trucks...

    400M Rebuild

Well, I did it. I rebuilt my 400M this summer at my cabin. I just thought id share some pics and info. First off, i would have had no chance at this project without this book: http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/0895860368 if you are planning a project like this for the first time, be sure to get a...

    Body Lift

I will be installing a 3 in body lift into my bronco in the near future but I have not yet figured out a good way to actually lift the body off the frame to get the spacers underneath. I will be installing new polyurethane bushings as well. I was wondering how other people have done this in...

    79 Bronco 7.3L Power Stroke

sounds awesome! a while back, i was reading an article in Bronco Driver Magazine about someone who did exactly that but with an early bronco. i forget the exact year, but if a 7.3 can be squeezed into an early bronco, it should fit fine in a full-size. Good Luck!

Need advice on 4bbl intake and carb

225 is a great price for both a 4bbl and an intake, if they are in good condition. When I upgraded my intake I found a used but completely refurbished edelbrock performer 400 intake for $100. I also bought a brand new edelbrock 1405 4bbl carb for about $250. Its a really good combo, I like it...

Need Wiring Diagram for Brake Lights

I have been having problems with my turn signals and brake lights since the day i bought my truck. The fuses for both of them kept blowing and i couldnt find the short anywhere so i did the only thing left in my mind and i wired circuit breakers into the two fuse slots (the two on the bottom...

    Transmission Upgrade

Awhile after buying my bronco and rebuilding the c6, I started to realize that an overdrive is very nice to have when on the freeway. I have looked into upgrading to a transmission with an overdrive and found the AOD. Before i go out and buy one, i just wanted to make sure that it could bolt...

    79 bronco Rear Window Removal

my 78 has a safety switch, the glass wont move unless the tailgate is closed. i just manually click shut the mechanism on the drivers side and that sets the switch so i can roll out the window with the tailgate down. however, the original actuating arms that push up the window only snap into...

    new carb

I just put in an edelbrock performer 600 cfm 4bbl carb along with the performer intake manifold. I had a lot of trouble getting the transmission (c6) kickdown lever bolted on to the carb. I had to fab a piece of aluminum to get the extension, angle, and motion right. It works, but not great...
