1996 Alternator Querstion

So I wanted to possibly change up the layout of the forum. I'd like to get more into the Generations and split them up a little better, especially the 1980 to 1996 Bronco forum. Any of you have any suggestions with that, or anything on the forum? Would love to hear some feed back.

I like the idea. I have a 1996 xl with ,302 really enjoying it. I do have a question ? What is the proper way to install my brand new alternator?

I know that I have to disconnect the battery. And the electrical connections. Then what? Is there anything I'm missing to do before I bolt it back on and start it up?

Pretty straight forward. Un hook battery like you said.
Then pull belt off.
Un bolt old one, bolt in new one.

One of the easier jobs on the old girl.

Removal

1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).

1. Disconnect electrical connectors from generator (GEN) (10346).

1. Remove drive belt (8620).

1. Remove generator retaining bolts (3).

Installation

1. Install generator.

1. Install generator retaining bolts (3). Tighten bolts to 21-29 Nm (16-21 lb-ft).

1. Install drive belt.

1. Connect electrical connectors to generator.

1. NOTE: When the battery (10655) has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
   
   
   Connect battery ground cable."

Suggest you inspect battery ground cables at block, frame and Intake Manifold to Block Strap on passenger side.
