Alternator Charging Issue

So, I know I'm resurrecting this old thread. I was out of work for a long time, and pretty much abandoned my repair for a while. But, a thought has occurred to me regarding the excitor circuit.

If memory serves correctly, the circuit runs through to the instrument cluster. Prior to experiencing the issue, I had taken time to pull the cluster to clean off and replace the bulbs. Would I be correct in thinking that maybe I damaged a wire or connector when I was working with the cluster? If so, what would be the best way to go about determining where the damage is located and fixing it?

I am thinking you can stick a test light in the circuit, like at the alternator to test your theory. Or you can apply 12v to that wire to test the instrument cluster light.

Need a wiring diagram. I will look around.

Oh, yeah, I don't have a cluster light. Mine has the nicer trim level with the gauges and stuff. I'm not sure the excitor circuit runs through the cluster without the idiot light.

Negative, that was a bit before my time.
I've had the privilege of working with quite a few of those guys- always have interesting storys to tell.
I helped out with the OIF & OEF thing a bit as a civvie was all, just a small wheel in the big machine.
You should have been with us. We would have had some fun. I met some great people their. Some changed when they got back home and with a woman. Some of us never and still having fun..

I hear that. I would have been up for a round or 2. 🍻
A-stan & mortar attacks was enough- & i volunteered for it. There's a reason that place is called the Graveyard of Empires.
I found out why.
🫤 was a 'adventure' I dont care to repeat. Seen some things that nobody should have to, but thats the 'zone.
For some, there's a part that never comes back.
Seems to apply to us CIVs that were brave (or dum) enough to put our a s s on the line with the rest of our
G.I. customer/compadres.
Pretty sure you know what im talking about, amigo.

I went round 2 and was in a different area and the CO was a first class COWARD. He was NOTHING like the CO,S IN THE DELTA. They were MEN AND HAD GUTS. I,d go any where with the Captain David Rath and Captain David Swift (Green Beret) of the 3/17th Air Cav-1st Avaition Brigade-DiAn,Viet Nam
