Cant get it to fire

okay i have a 79 and i just finished installing the headers and pipes, and i started and it sounded awsome...well my dad decided for some reason to take the battery off when it was running....well it blew out my radio and lamp light (as far as i know maybe more), and now it wont get fire it turns over perfect but just wont fire...i replaced the voltage regulator, the solenoid, and the coil....still nothing

please help :blink:

i did replace the coil...and the fuses are fine

Also check your grounds.

umm what are the fusible links? not real good with trucks just the basics

I have a '77 Ranger W/460ci,and i had a lot of problems with the fusible links getting old and going out.Theyre sort of a "BI" to run down without a wire diagram.

hmm are they just abnormally lage wire connectors? cause i see alot of those

Fusible links are in line fuses that are integrated into your wires.They look like a place that has been cut and repaired,sorta like a rubber or plastic knot.Usually you can bend them and feel if theyre broken or burned.OR,you can test continuity from each side of the fuse.

They will almost always be on your more important hot wires....alt,sol,ign..etc.

hey i didnt see any of those and um could the problem be that little 5x5 in.. aluminum box thing on the driver side?

or could it be the little electronic ignition thing in the distributor (mine dosnt have points) i guess its aftermarket?

The pickup could of went in the Dist or it could be the stock ford brain box.

where can i get one of the brain boxs? and one of the magnetic pickup things in the distributor

also kinda off topic but i have a 3in. body lift and 2 in coil spacers on the front....do you think i could fit 36 tsl's in there

On a '79 yes it should fit, a friend of mine has a 79 with a three inch body lift, running 37 inch boggers

ok cool also i just got this brain box off ebay...and im pretty sure its the right one..can someone confirm that?...also thanks for the help so far dudes

You have to count the wires and the colors on your truck and compare that to the new box

ya they look to be the same...so i hope thats the problem if not the only other replacable thing would be the reciever thing in the distributor

okay also i found the in line fuse things but i cant tell if theyre blown b/c its a hard plastic rectangle....how do i test
