I went with a set that has serrated base locknuts, so the things shouldn't back off easy. If that happens, lock-washers will be added.
Well how how the bolts rusting on? Or are they stainless? Its why I went to brass.

That........is a good question,
& all the hardware on that end is stainless. Not gonna skimp there.
Today: cursed product engineers once again.
It would be interesting to see the differences between the 7 pin transfer case motor vs the 10 pin, how/why, etc.

Got the 4X working again, so that's checked off the list.
During the R&R I noticed where the convoluted tubing downlink had actually left a 'lasting impression' in the T-case----- 😳sort of a WTH? kind of moment.
Am a bit surprised that magnesium would be this mallable, given the low mileage on this particular unit.
So...do all of these 1356s wear like this in that particular area?
Made a rubber splint to try to keep this from eating into the material any further.
The things we do to help uncle Henry. 🙄

Tried to start mine. Took the battery out and put it on charge. I,ll try maybe tomorrow.After I get back from the va.

Went for a drive last night, (We have had 12" of snow in the last 2 days, so I got to try out my auto 4X4), it works flawlessly!
Going to wire up the E-locker later this week.
(You never know when you will need a posi!)
The resto mod keeps getting better and better.
Mileage works out to around 13mpg (a lot better than the 7 they got when they were carbureted)
SPG (smiles per gallon) are off the chart!

I adjusted the new carb on my 78 today and it sounds and runs alot better. They had it about 1/2 turn. I adjusted it out to 1 and 1/2 turn. Starts easier and runs alot better

I like them posi ,s alot. Had a 79 Caprice that had it and it would go anywhere,but coming off the mountain. Where I hunted at. I always chained up coming off.

You asked to be kept in the loop about the concoction that was being brewed up....
thar it be.
Was done on old school mill equipment. No CnC was abused in the process, just operator skill & patience. Have a small bit of port matching to do, but no biggie. Turned out fairly well for a prototype.
The uphill climb continues.

Collected the proper length bolts to get this plenum deal fitted. More fab work ahead- stretch the PS plenum support brace & cut/weld the tower-bolt tops to the new fastners.
Ran across a thread on a different forum where somebody had a lens fall off a headlight fixture. (90 model) 🤔
I was unaware these things could be dismantled as such for cleaning. The question is, what would be a bullet proof re-attatchment? JB weld? Gorilla epoxy? 🤷‍♂️

Recovering from the mistake of not checking the tip of the spray gun prior to shooting color. I have been sanding for three weeks! Lesson learned, hope to reshoot this weekend with of course the proper tip. On the bright side, I did find a couple of flaws that I was able to correct before I shoot again.Also working on the top, came off a 66 and I have had it since 88. Clearing out the rain gutters and applying POR before I seam seal them. This project was supposed to be complete last June.

For the headlight lens? I have used clear epoxy, I got some really good stuff off of amazon, it is amazing, we have baked a couple headlights apart to build one out of three for a riteoff repair. (saved 1500.00)
(2018 Lincoln MXZ) it worked well.

There it sits. Now to S t r e t c h and bend everything so it adapts.
Egr tube, coil/emissions support bracket, plenum support brace.
It always comes in 3s 😑
Almost on the home stretch.

Drove the heave-n-hack sludge motor around a bit today.
Got the plenum support brace on the 'hi-riser' fitted, so 1 down & 2 to go.

The last one looks like it's gonna have to wait until I recover🤕 & am out from under the self imposed quarantine.
Until then-
Anyone out there been down the Egr valve delete trail with any success on these?
Have experimented with such on my 250 & only had marginal results.
