I'm looking at a set of fiberglass twin trucker antennas for my Bronco. I'm thinking of mounting them on the mirrors. Would that look any good? Where else could mount them?

:-& not the mirrors the back at the corners where the top meets the body make a mount custom .. . . . .would look alot better

I used to be very serious into the cb radio...talked all the way to Melbourne Australia on my old one once, but then I had a 60' tower and beam in the yard and enough power to run a small AM radio station. The power company loved me.
The duals on the mirror would be ok, I would tell you to go with a single larger one on the rear tire carrier arm, just make sure that at least half of it is over the roof line. Midland made "full wave" fiberglass sticks that worked great for me, I loved them and they would take any amp I hooked up to them. There is also the "Firestick" and another great one is the "Wilson 1000" which you can get with magnet base or with the load on a pole like you see truckers run on their rigs.
I would easily recommend any of those three, and in that order. If you want any more input don't hesitate to ask...I miss my cb.

i have to agree with RBuffordTJ on the full wave and if you run twin truckers on the mirrors bear in mind that they should be 8 feet apart and are a real P.I.T.A to match my preferance is a K40 mounted on the roof just forward of the fiberglass they also have a lifetime warranty and an optional magnet base that you can almost use to pull dents with a coating that wont scratch your paint
yeah i miss the skip shooting days with my saturn base and the washington base and the hr2510 in the truck once upon a time it was the only option for long range comunication but now all you needis a good cell phone or satalite phone but me i stick with my hr2510

Well the drivers side would be working and the passeger side would be a dummy unit.

Get a dual cable, they make them that would allow you to run both together! That is what you would want to do, no dummy.
All the talk of Washingtons and HR2510's is making me crave my radio. I had a 2510 for a while, also had a base that was the Madison, the digital clock version with a Sadelta echomaster desk mike....loved that thing. My maco 7 tube modulator....the skip would roll....it would roll hard.
Bottom line is buy good stuff the first time and you will not be sorry, if you buy cheap stuff you will regret it. If your only gona use it for trail riding then no biggie.

Then do it right, find a good radio, get it peaked and clipped, find a nice modulator or linear amp to boost the power and your on man!

That's a classic. Is is stock or has it had any work done on it? I have seen those but never owned one. I bet it could be made to do whatever your wanting it to do though. They built good stuff back then.

Its 100% original, they only thing is it has a gray, not wood grain finish on it.

I have in my possession a dual into one antenna cable I'm willing to part with if you'd like. I used it on my '93 F250. I was running dual firesticks mounted on the front fenders exactly 2 feet back from the nose. Now that I have the Bronco I'm figuring out a way of mounting one of my firesticks on the spare tire carrier.
Let me know if you want it, you can have for the cost of shipping...

Your mirror mount will work on the tire carrier, you may have to use 4 longer bolts to hold the mirror mount together but it will hold onto the tube.

Yeah, but I still like the look of a set of twin truckers. I'm installing a set on the bedrails of my 97 F250.
