I just bought my first Ford and its a Bronco. 1994 Eddie Bauer 5.8L with 137,000 miles for $4600 very clean like new and runs great with all maitnence records. Can you guys answer a few questions?

1. Do you think this was a good deal?

2. What are common problems with this make (5.8L Engine) and year I need to have my mechanic look over or I need to be aware of?

3. I don't plan on totally cutomizing it, razing it up, blowing out the engine or any ********* 4x4ing.

I would do some light suspenion upgrades depending on price, and I just what it to run for a long time. What should I do to it?

4. Steering problems to look out for?

Thanks for any advice and info fromTony in Boise Idaho

Sounds good to me. Do at least a 4 inch lift with 33s. Everything else will show up down the road if it needs attention. (loose/sloppy steering and other gremlins)

yo, welcome!

ok, you asked for it!....lol

We have a 96, bought it new in May 96 and basically, we "over-maintain" it...meaning 3k mile oil/filter changes & ***** all filters changed before severe duty schedules, etc. Hub, wheel bearing re-packs after beach runs, etc. Still, we had minor problems that we addressed quickly.

Besides the usual visual, driveability and leak checks, look for:

- oil pan rust - our's formed spots @ 62k miles - sand it down and prime/paint it w/Rust Bullet

I've got a '93 with a 351, BW1356 T-Case and an E4OD with around 230k on it. All original. Body is pretty much dying, but the drivetrain is STRONG. Smooth idle, great compression and seamless shifting. I replaced the upper and lower ball joints about 10,000 miles ago. Had to replace the oil pan gasket too. That was a pain in the @$$ let me tell you!

I paid $3000 for my 94 E/B w/128k on the clock. Steering is a little sloppy and the stereo sucks. My second truck purchase from eBay,and yes I drove out and looked them over first. Some folks here in PA have very loose definitions of minor rust! Now after reading here I know I've got some projects ahead of me. Nothing radical; just performance upgrades,it already sits high enough for me to clear snow and crawl under to work on. Anyone tried the dual shock install kits and does dual shock make for better handling ?

sounds like a pretty good truck. well what you want to do depends on how much you plan to invest. how much are you wanting to invest into the rig?

Good price for that new (if you can call it that) i think broncos are going to be selling for more and more money as time goes by.

i am pretty curious about that myself. i wonder if the price on our bronco's will actually start going up. not because i want to sell mine, but just to see if it will be more expensive to get another to rebuild or use it for a parts truck.

Just look at the old Honda Trail 70's or Ct70's they have gone through the roof, just look at E-bay. I wonder if the Bronco's will follow.

I paid 4300 for a 95 EB with 105,000 miles on it, it's in darn near immaculate shape for a 95.

wait til the gas prices jump in the spring then nobody thinks of snow you can buy them cheap the car lot a few blocks away had 4 fullsize 4wd (ironic that they were 2 broncos a fulsize blazer and of all things an old power wagon) now that gas is coming down due to not requiring E85 summer gas anymore this year and temps starting to fall guess what now they are gone within a weak ( yes the broncs were the first to go then the power wagon was waiting to see wich would go first)
