Can you discribe better what happens when you hit a bump? Is your bronco making a grinding sound, shaking, pulling to one side or the other, ect.? If you discribe the problem better, the pople on the forum can probably point you in the direction.

Thanks,

Rob

I would double check everything in the front end. Make sure that the wheel bearings are well lubed, check the ball joints, check the tie rod end isn't loose, worn or incorrectly adjusted. Good luck!

I'm not one of the good mechanics that are here. I have no experience with lifted trucks nor do I know what common problems they have. With that being said, it sounds like something is loose or broken (or possibly installed incorrectly). Unless it has something to do with your AntiLocking Braking system ABS. Does your ABS light come on?

When you discribe bouncing...

Is it like big discrete bounces? Like maybe you have a broken shock?

or is it more like a vibration, like you wandered off of the side of the road onto the shoulder where they had one inch deep cuts in it every two or three inches?

How old are the shocks because it just sounds like your shocks are in need of replacement.

Well its sounds like you replaced most, It is probably in your best interest to replace the ball joints and check all your steering linkage. We have an 1988 f350 tow truck and the bushings where the two halfs of the axle meet are worn out. It does what we call the death wobble... After you hit fourth gear and about 35 mph it starts this crazy shake than you can slow down or put your foot into it and hang on until about 50 mph when it smooths out. Really man you might just have a bad lift or a combination of things... Also get a junker car cause if your bronco is your only ride than sorry for your luck. I have a 96 chevy lumina the best car ever. It with run forever on gas and oil. Check your bushings on the radial arms also you could have them overtighened or loose. Let us know of your progress...

HI, We had this same problem with the new Ford 350. When we hit bumps in the road it would shake and bounce. The dealer said that the that the front axle shims were the wrong ones. Hope that this might help.

Again I have no experience with lifted trucks.

It sounds to me like you need to differentiate between

1. body/frame issues

2. steering including ball joints

3. axel /hub and wheel

4. ABS

Working backwards..

4... ABS if you pull the fuse #10 that should disable ABS. Without ABS your truck will still stop as though with regular brakes.

3.. are your wheel lugs tight?

How long after you installed the new hubs did the problem start?

There is a universal joint between the hub and the axel on each side. A bad universal can give a vibration, more so when there is a load on it. They are disengaged when your hubs are disengaged.

2. ball joints. I need to do mine. I am told it is a full weekend job, or costs about $1200 in a shop. Do you know how to check your ball joints for play?

1. IF it is a weekend warrior, you might want to check your shocks, even though they are relatively new, could you have banged them real good?

I don't know about brackets and bushings and stuff.

Good luck,

The real mechanics usually get on here after dinner.

Do you have a steering stabilizer on the front of the truck? If so is it in good shape? I would try, if you have one, unbolting one side and push it in and out and see if there is any resistance. I am running 35's on my dodge and I have to replace my steering stabilizer because the stock stabilizers can't hold up to te abuse that a 35 puts on it. I am upgrading to a dual stabilizer which is what I would recommend for you to do if you plan on going bigger than 35's anytime in the future. Let me know if it helps?

thanks joe. my lugs are tight and its not the hubs i had the problem before i replaced them.ball joints arnt that much and you can do them your self with the help of the advance auto ball joint loaner tool.doing it yourself saves alot of cash and its good experiance and it only takes about a half of a devoted day to do them.if you do them your self make sure you get the heavy duty ones they slide in a little better and last longer

Good deal glad you have that setup. I found that the steering stabilizer is really important when I tried to apply the brakes and the front wheels started turning back and forth and ripped the steering wheel out of my hands. Sorry I couldn't help more. Good Luck with it.

I'm waiting for better weather, but thanks for the tip.

Oh yeah... It seems that I always have to calculate some extra time for murphy's law stuff.

Sorry my suggestions didn't pan out (if you checked them all already) as I said the guys who know their stuff are usually on a bit later.

Good luck, I hope you solve your problem.

When you do figure it out, please post the solution here, so I and others can learn.

Thanks

joe
