Headliner sag...Fix?

THe Headliner in my Bronco is starting to sag in areas..

Is their anybody that has found something to fix its sag? Its really annoying. I keep thinking their is water in it!

I would like to see what you guys have done!

id say...remove any of the paneling thats holding in the head liner, make sure its dry, then get some of that 3M spray on adhiesive and follow its directions, then button it all back up. >-

If there is water in it, you may have the roof crack problem. There is tech bulletin on the subject. I don't know if you can still get Ford to do it, but you may be able to get the kit from them. See Meisk5's site http://home.comcast.net/~miesk5/technical_...e_bulletins.htm

Personally mine has gone the way of the buffalo, i like metal roofs, but headliners have there place in the world so pull it apart and spray adhesive is you best bet. I would even pull the liner out to respray the adhesive cuz that crap gets everywhere and you dont want it inside your truck

i used to do headliners for people a lot and my brother was a top notch upholster...i would suggest you drop the headliner take the old material off clean the piece the material goes to well (you can use wirebrush lightly) get all the old glue off..try to search around fabric stores and upholstery shops for the glue they use spray it on with a good pattern..spray the material itself let sit for minute then put the material on...i've used the 3M adhesive before and didnt really care for it. good luck

I think they sell a spray that tightens up the sag, check an autoparts store.

Im gonna try that adhesive 3m spray. Ive heard of some good things for that!

Putting a new headliner on looks like its a sinch! I might as well have my uncle who does appolstery find me some fabric and do it!

once the headliner material seperates from the backpadding (which is what causes the sag) its tough to glue it back onto it without f'ing it up. i got my headliner kit here: http://www.stockinteriors.com/ total cost around $40 w/ shipping if i remember correctly. includes headliner material attached to backpad and a can of adhesive. you can order samples for free to match it up.

doing it isn't REALLY tough as much as tedious and time consuming. the problem is the backpadding is REALLY stuck to the headliner board which in the 89 is probably styrofoam like mine is and you need to get all of it off to reapply the new headliner material. when you remove it from the styrofoam you need to be careful not to take chunks out of the foam. i did in a few spots and the headliner looks great but there are a few tiny "dimples" where i gouged the foam. problem was i didnt notice the dimples until i recovered it. but for $40 it's a good deal and i'll probably go back later and redo it but maybe try to "bondo" the gouges. the dimples aren't that BIG of a deal the headliner matches perfect and looks brand new except for those couple dimples.

Mine hit me in the head once too often when I had the top off so I got a wild hair and rippied in out! That in itself took a little time but I am happy with my metal roof....I just got to paint it now!
