I have not run the EZ locker, heard it was too weak. What size tires are you running? Might do better with just a Trac-Lok or mini-spool. the mini for the 9" I used to have in the 84 Bronco was only about $30. Dropped it in with the 4.56 gear swap, JSM84

The two things you should stay away from in a daily drivin' vehicle are a lincoln locker (welding the spider gears to the case) and a full spool. These do not allow for ANY slippage in the rear end and your tires will spin and chirp around every corner. A good option is a Detroit Trutrac. I run one in mine and LOVE it. I don't slip in any place so far and that includes muddin' and loose hillclimbs. It isn't a full locker either so it allows some slippage. I think a Detroit Locker would be best in a 9 inch and they are famously strong and dependable.

well a mini spool sounds good. are they strong and reliable. how complicated is the install i have a LS, or so the tab says. its not a DD i can deal with tire chirping and stuff.

What if i got a full spool. just transfer the ring over right, plus setting the measurements of course

A full spool is made so you just transfer the ring gear over and reset backlash and it is cheap, strong, and easy to do. A mini spool is made to be put in your stock carrier if you have an open diff. If you already have a Trac-lok rear differential you need the Full spool or to findan open carrier that is cheap and then you can use the cheaper mini spool.

Spools and the like are extremely ******* axles hope you realize that. You will be spending a ton of cash replacing axles, for that price you should consider a selectable locker like Ox, ARB or Eaton elec, They may be expensive up front but by the time you get your truck towed home a couple times and replace axles you will have paid for them

Yes axle wear was one thing I forgot top mention. You will also be going through axle and carrier bearings. A Spool or welded diff is very ******* the whole rear end in general.
