'88 needs a ring job - thinking of going electric

My '88 is not passing CA smog due to a cylinder low in compression - indicating a ring job to be done. This is the classic stick-shift transmission. However, I am thinking, outside the box, about converting to electric. General plan: Grab a used Tesla motor and connect to the drive shaft into the transmission. Thus, replacing the classic motor with an electric. Anyone out there seen this conversion approach? As for power source, maybe a battery pack from the junk yard, or even a hybrid motor system so I can still use fuel.

Hey Derek!
Interesting idea for sure!
It would be a very large undertaking to say the least!
Hybrid would likely be easier than full electric.
Both will be a huge mountain of design, fabrication, re-engineering…
Success and failure.
If you are bored, check out my build thread on my 79 restomod I like to call FrankenBronco.
If it works, it will be one of a kind and extremely cool!
That being said, do a lot of research before you start spending. The list of issues I can see is too long to post.
Remember, anything can be put anywhere with enough skill, knowledge, determination, and money!

1979 Bronco- 2003 Lightning swap
