So, I know I'm resurrecting this old thread. I was out of work for a long time, and pretty much abandoned my repair for a while. But, a thought has occurred to me regarding the excitor circuit.

If memory serves correctly, the circuit runs through to the instrument cluster. Prior to experiencing the issue, I had taken time to pull the cluster to clean off and replace the bulbs. Would I be correct in thinking that maybe I damaged a wire or connector when I was working with the cluster? If so, what would be the best way to go about determining where the damage is located and fixing it?

I am thinking you can stick a test light in the circuit, like at the alternator to test your theory. Or you can apply 12v to that wire to test the instrument cluster light.

Need a wiring diagram. I will look around.

Oh, yeah, I don't have a cluster light. Mine has the nicer trim level with the gauges and stuff. I'm not sure the excitor circuit runs through the cluster without the idiot light.
