1996 Bronco Not Planned Restoration

You know the more I think about it that steel sleeve is one piece. I think they have to be cut.

Hammered it, BFH it, giant punch, crow barred it. Can’t get it

look for a hack saw or better yet. A saw-saw. It will cut it fast. Get good metal saw blades. The cheap ones will make your job harder. Looks like you have room to get in their and the job done.

try and find some stainless tubing or have you can get and before you put it back together. Put thread ease on it. It will prevent it from rusting the bolts and tap

I've looked at some of the kits for newer vehicles and they seem to have tube sleeves in them. I don’t see what I couldn't do the stainless tubing as you recommended. Seems like it would work. I just don’t want to do anything else twice as I have with most of the Bronco rebuild lol.

Also remeber stainless and some othe metals do put off toxic fumes. So have a fan on to moves the fumes away from you--even grinding some metal--will put of some fumes and can effect you throat too. .Make sure theirs plenty of ventilaion. I found out the hard way about a month ago. Grinding on a gun part for a few minutes and felt it in my throat .. My throat was sore about a week. Be careful and good luck

Well stainless won,t rust and while your at it. Why not use stainless bolts and taps both and do away with any rust issue,

Also make sure they are the same hardness too.

after ownership of 9 U have not built upa source list? We use the doz or so "typical bronk vendors" but U may have had rigs in such shape - prts were not needed?

Latest update for those interested. Motor waiting to be rebuilt (not by me), frame sent off for sand blasting and to be painted with industrial Black paint. The truck came from up north so hopefully there’s still metal left afterwards. I gave up on trying to remove the body mount sleeves. Well I hope you asked around about the people who are gonna do the work for you. Their is people (and so called friends) who is only interested in your money and nothing else. They will half ass do the work. That,s why I,d rather do it myself and know it is done right. I been through that before and have seen other people get done wrong. Good luck.

I like restoring old guns that some people call a useless cause and make the work and look new again and I show and tell people how to do it. So they don,t get ripped off buy these sports shops.Like blueing a gun--It took awhile for me to find out and learn from my own experience. and its easier and durable too.

Same way working on vehicles. You learn as you go along and the more you do of something .It becomes easier to you.

Chris,their is a memeber on hear--I think its Shaggy from Michigan . That buys bronco and takes them apart and sales pieces. He also has videos on YOU TUBE that shows how to do certain things.

Well so far i have done it all myself except for the sandblasting the frame and the motor work. I have restored several Broncos before, just not to the extent of this one. Nothing has been or will be half Azzed. The motor will be done a well known motor company and so far the only major problems i've came upon is the dang body mount sleeves and broken seat bolts. I rarely depend on anyone but myself to do the work, but there are things i have never encountered which is why i'm on this forum.

From the picture you posted with the body off the frame. That would be a very easy and fast job with a SAW-SAW. With a good metal cutting blade. Mine has came in real handy for many jobs.

Speaking of encountering a new issue with this rebuild. The genius that owned this truck before me put a sunroof in it. Now the headliner needs replacing and the headliner board looks like Ray Charles cut it out. I need a headliner board to fix this. So far i have not been able to find one. Anyone know where i can get a pre-formed headliner board or Ideas ?

From the picture you posted with the body off the frame. That would be a very easy and fast job with a SAW-SAW. With a good metal cutting blade. Mine has came in real handy for many jobs.

For the sleeves that go over the bolts. Get some metal tubing and cut it to size you need. Again stainless will save you troubles on down the road. Evan if it cost more. Get harden bolts too with stainless taps and plenty of ventilation when you cut it or grind or sand any of it.
