OK, I've had my Bronco just 3-4 weeks without any issues. It is my extra rig and I only drive it once and a while. Last Sunday we drove up to a gravel pit and did some shooting. I drove it home fine and parked it. I just noticed that it is leaking transmission oil, there is a pretty good leak under the truck. What could all of a suddan cause this. Any ideas. It is too messy up there to tell where the oil is coming from. ??????? Hopfully someone has been through something like this and can help me out.

Thanks

Since we are not there to look at the truck, you may have to get messy and clean it up a little. I would guess a transmission cooling line may have rusted through or something like that. Clean it up a little and then take note of where you see fresh fluid, (be sure to add fluid before it eats itself up). common places for a leak are, the transmission oil cooler, cooling lines, places where there is a coupling, transmission pan seal or loose bolts, drive shaft seal, etc.

Good luck,

:)>-

To help troubleshoot this, what kind of driving did you do in the pit? Did you horse the gas while on the gravel? Maybe you ran over something and, like Seabronc said, damaged a line, or even the pan itself. Or maybe the trans pan gasket just said "enough!" and desided to blow out in one section. Just some things to look for while you get dirty.

I just replaced the gaskets where the transmission and transfer case bolt together (there's one between the trans and the adapter, and one between the adapter and transfer case). If its either of these, do both and replace the input seal on the transfer case. Better to get them all 3 done at the same time than repeat your work 3 times later.

Well, I am going to try to get under it sometime this week after work. Thanks for all the input. Anyone know what I am looking at to replace the gaskets? (if that is all it is)

Thanks again
