Ok so I don't have a lot of info just what was given to my by the scrap yard, so any help with a possible ID would help. Its in a 78/79 Ford Bronco and a 5 speed with a cast iron case, its bolted up to a 351w and NP208. They also said it was rounded on the bottom...any ideas or help narrowing it down would be great. Thanks

There is a link to transmission ID in the How-To & Tech articles forum section. Since the stock 78/79 manual NP435 is a 4-speed w/o OD, a 5-sp manual would have come from a later model year. The available Ford options are the Mazda 5-sp or the ZF-series from the F-series trucks. THe stock motor in the 78/79 was also a 351M, with a NP203/NP205 t-case. The NP208 was used from 1980-1985 in the Broncos and F-series trucks, and no 5-sp manual was offered then either. For reference, the Ford 5-speed manuals have an overdrive (OD) fifth gear. JSM84
