any one swapped out a c-6 for an e4od what all do i need and is it worth it when i got a doner truck (it has a 5.0 efi in a 93 and i want to put it in a 88 with a 5.8 efi) also if it matters the doner has electronic 4x4 versus the 88's manual shift

yea my friend did the same kind of thing, it wasnt easy, but why do you want to get rid of the c6?, and as for the electric 4wd, youd have to change the transfer cases over, im not sure but you might need to do some fabrication to make the case fit and work properly

The cases are interchangeable with no problems mechanically but you need the processor to control it . I have everything out of an 87 which was the first year of the pushbutton T case it also had its own harness and wasnt ******* into all the other electronics . If you want it all itll be cheap but youll have to get a wiring diagram to hook it up . You will have to have an EEC that had an E4OD because the tranny comtrols are built into the EEC and it will also have to be an EEC for a 5.8 . And somehow I also have one of them laying here on my desk from a 91 that had an E4OD and a 5.8 :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Are you any good at reading wiring diagrams ?

ok i got the tranny already from my 93 it is in very good shape(less than 25k) and the c-6 is tired to say the least basicaly i like the e4od for the fact that i can "tweak " the shifts easier and it will improve highway mileage also no i dont want the electric shift t-case unless there is no choice i also have a spare t-case (dont ask)so am thinking the tranny will have to be installed and add in the comp and harness for a 5.8 with e4od is that basicaly it?and if so when i attach the manual shift to the e4od will the drive shafts be correct lenght (for some reason they look shorter)

as far as wire diagrams yes i am competent with them wouldn't it be fairly simple tho replace the comp and run the harness from the tranny and maybe some sensors and such??

also will i need to replace the column due to the shifter being for more gears?

Yes youll need to change the column as the over dirve cancel switch is in the end of the shifter and also the shifter positions are different ( I also have one out of a 92 complete with the cable . E4OD are cable shifted ) Your manual T case will fit just fine there is an acess hole under the carpet on most that comes off then the shifter goes up through there you will need the factory bezel and seal to make it look right . The driveshaft will be shorter because the E4OD is a mile longer than the C6 . You will need to change the computer and the harness being that it didnt have an E4OD in it to begin with if it had you would have just had to change the computer for the motor . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
