First look up the specs so you know where to start . Then get a set of calipers ro micrometers that will measure within that range then just measure straight across the journal like across it then straight up and down you do this to see if there is any egg shape to it if its even then you take that measurement and compare it to the factory spec and remember when you bore a cylinder you add to the diameter when you have a crank turned they take away from the diameter thats why the bearings are called undersize . Heres a link for the sizes http://home.comcast.net/~jelerath/mustang/.../cranks-fr.html

thanks for the info. but doesn`t the 302 ** have atleast 4 different sizes on the rod bearings. i hadn`t worked on a ford in a long time but the other day i asked about some rod bearings and they asked what the size was. i guess they wanted to know if it had been bored. that was something i didn`t know.thanks for the info i`ll check them as soon as i can.

Nope the rod bearings are the same between a 5.0 and a 5.0 H.O . only difference is the ** has factory forged flat top pistons with metric stainless steel rings and a very nice set of heads on it possibly a difference in the cam also . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
