85 Ford Bronco II, carb, 8.6, 4-WD, Very noisy lifters. An old timer from a junk yard told me he used to work on those Broncos and that the noise was typical of old Fords and not to worry about it. I'm concerned I'm not getting enough passiing-power and /or proper gas mileage.

Does anyone know the proper spacing?

"Old timer" is prob. still laughing after pulling your green leg..!

Hyd. lifters are "0" spacing.

You may have a weak or a collapsed lifter.

Poor in some "Marvil Mystery Oil" & see if it doesn't loosen up.

If not you'll have to look a bit deeper.

Tried the "M" Oil but didn't help. Pulled the driver's side cover off and found

three lifters that were real loose but looked straight so I returned them

and tightened to a near "0" spacing. That really quited them down.

Thanks,
