Intro..I have a '73 with a 302 (nothing fancy) 3spd and 3.55 gears, 33" TSL. I love mudding in fileds and ditches but nothing major. I also love just riding on my days off. Seems like I'm slow as a turtle off the line and the RPMs are screaming at me around 65mph. I heard I would be even happier with a NV3550. I read a lot of you guy's comments on the NV 3550 and like what I see. The only thing is JB wants $2300 for the tranny package. Toms Bronco has just the tranny for $1650. Do I have to get the expensive package or just the tranny will do? I read on one of the posts of several things that is stock will work but I can not find that post to see if those items are included in the package deal. Please guys help. The wife is already on me for spending money. Any penny saved would keep me out of the dog house.

If you buy the complete kit, either from the vendors, or through A.A.

You will need nothing else to do the swap.

This of course depends somewhat on the year of your Bronco, and what t/case you have.

The T-shift case is somewhat harder to use the factory sshifter with, I eventually fabbed my own using a Hurst shifter to match the aftermarket shifter in one of my trucks, the other truck, I was able to mod the factory J- shifter to work with the factory NV shifter. I find with a 4 bbl and 3.50 gearing on 35s the one truck has adequate power for a daily driver, with a 2 bbl and 3.50s on 33's the other truck is slightly under powered for freeway use... go figure!

Good luck on your decision, the NV 3550 is a great choice for an EB!
