NP208's, what years ?

Ok, I'm being lazy at the moment. Have to put the kids to bed & go visit neighbors and all but anyone know off the top of their heads what the production years were for 208's ? Once again I'm embarassed to admit it but before bolting my transfer case back in this afternoon I figured I'd give it a good cleaning. After covering up the vent line & speedo input I pressure washed the **** out of that bitch. Imagine my surprise when I spotted a very familiar looking circular red *New Process* tag on the back of it. Now I'll admit I'd been mildly curious as to why I hadn't spotted any Torx bolts on the perimeter of the case as many write-ups have claimed to be present on the BW1356's but I never gave it a lot of serious thought. However, after seeing the NP logo it flashed into my head "wait a minute, isn't this a Borg-Warner case ?" But NO, it isn't. It's an NP208. I'll track down the appropriate info later on when I have the time but thought I'd toss it out there & see if anyone else already had the info handy.

I know they were used from 80 to 86 at least, beyond that I ain't sure, also some of the 80-86's have B/W's so your best bet is to just look around, the np's have that real smooth case design, plus the case material is aluminum (it will look white by now), 6066 I'd bet (most aluminum castings are 6066 sometimes 4043) . The B/W are a magnesium case, (it will look medium grey by now) real pain in the ass to weld cause it will burn without proper argon shielding, take a razor and shave a clean B/W case and you can light it.

Cool man ,Thanx. I'll shoot Fred a PM and see what he's got. I knew they had replaced the 205's but didn't have the info on what/when.
