Im having a problem with my 88 B2 fuel pump. Recently replaced inirtia switch. It's now acting the same way. Since I had to get a used one I thought it was the same problem. I jumped the connector...nothing. have power to switch but when I jump it I have no power. Ran a new wire to fuel pump have power to connector, but when I plug it in, nothing. Anybody got any ideas.

Bad fuel pump?

Or how do you know the fuel pump is good?

Maybe a bad ground coming from the pump?

Hey Joey, welcome to the zone!
Sounds like a bad connection between the fuse panel and the inertia switch.
Try plugging it all in and test for power at any connections you can find between the fuel pump fuse and the switch.
Id try checking the relay first.
Lots of the time the circuit an carry voltage when the load (pump) is unplugged, but cant when there is a load on the circuit.
Ill see if I can find a schematic and offer you some test points.
Good luck.
Cheers

Im still at a loss with this fuel system problem. Replaced relay, get power to connector when I eliminate inirtia switch with a direct wire to pump harness, but when I plug the connector to tank...no power. I bypassed the harness and put direct power and ground to the pump. Pump works fine. I was told there is a second rail pump. I followed fuel line to a canister on the rail, but there are no electric leads off of it so I don't know what it does.i haven't pulled the fuel lines off that yet to test but this whole thing has me baffled. Anybody got a clue.

Finally found the problem. What i thought was the fuel pump relay was another relay. Found the green one laying down beneath a pile of wires and hoses. The harness wires were cracked, corroded and exposed. Replaced the harness and relay and secured it back to the fender well. Good to go and only took 15 minutes and 30 buck for relay and harness. Thanks to all who responded. Especially the guy who replied "it's the green one".
