im pimpin a 91 bronco 5.8 for now. im tryin to paint it flat black but got descent sized rust holes above the rear wheels. i can bondo the lil holes no problem. the rust spots that r ******* me off r a problem however. i got bondo, spray foam, and fiberglass s##t. however i have nothing to really work with. what would be a good "filler"? i was thinkin maybe some sort of wire mesh laid across it cuz other wise and cant round it off. im not too worried about making it perfect but i do want it to look halfway descent. and nice and flush. the trim above the wheels is barely hangin on, should i use it as some sort of guide and paint it or just rip it off? i love my bronco and it loves me. help out this happy couple. thanks

Look for the stainless steel tape, and stick it on the inside of the panel where you have a hole. Get some fiberglass-reinforced body filler and apply it over the hole, sand it down and prime it. that will last you about 6-8 months before the rust re-appears. The best way is to cut out the infected metal and weld/glue in new patches of fresh metal. IF the rust holes are along the edges of the fender opening, you can cut an inch or two off and make room for a bigger tire or cover that with fender flares.

well i have the same problem i have a perfect everything else 95 ford bronco 4x4 33s swampers but my wheel wells are completly rusted almost gone so what im going to do is grind the rest of the rust off and get them alittle straighter and buy some wheel well extension flares they just bolt right on. but that will depend on if the rust is to high it prolly wont work.bif not you might try that rout! my name is josh.

Ypu might also want to consider using new metal sections that are available from several suppliers, like JBG http://www.broncograveyard.com. Cut out the rusted metal and place the new metal as Justshootme84 suggested. That will solve the rust being too high for the flare kits.

Good luck,

:)>-

Dude, you cant fill rust! cut it away, weld on a new patch piece and it will be gone for as long as you own your vehicle! If you smoosh all sorts of crap in the rust hole you are going to make it worse by giving moisture something else to bond with. If you don't have a welder cut the piece out (as square as possible) take a new piece, coat it with weld thru primer by 3M on both sides. Bring the piece to a body shop and have them weld it on for you. Make sure it is 1/16th" smaller all around then the size of the hole to leave room for the weld to penetrate. (huh, I said penetrate) The shop shouldnt charge you more then 80.00-90.00 (2hrs@$40-$45 per hr).

Good Luck. feel free to hit me up if you have any more questions I own a customizing shop so theres nothing I cant do

just remember to mix the hardner as per the directions. to much and it will actually heat up to the point of smoking!

Also keep in mind that fiberglass is not a permanent adhesive to metal. it will eventually seperate and possibly cause more rust. if you are on a limited budget then the way I explained to you would only be about $100 and would be a more permanent way. if you have never done it before I will be more then happy to answer any questions along the way.
