I see pictures of people's broncos with very clean and nice looking engines. And mine well....heh..not so clean. Can you explain or give me a link to a website that explains how I can do this? Anything would help me :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />...

Thank You,

Your engine is designed to be in a wet environment. You can get engine degreaser at an auto parts store, like "Engine Brite" or "Gunk" or some other brand, I like Gunk, when I was a teenager I use to hang around the Harley dealership and loved the smell of a freshly cleaned engine :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> . Just don't over due it with water or protect the distributor while spraying it off. When you change plugs and wires, use silicone grease on the boots to seal them against moisture and it will also make taking a plug wire off easier the next time. Though the alternator can stand moisture, i usually avoid directly spraying it with a hose. Let the engine dry off afterward before starting it. You may have to actually scrub any real greasy spots by hand.

Another option would be a steam cleaner but again watch what you spray directly.

Good luck,

:)>-

Getting it clean can be a messy job. Like Seabronc said, you may have to get in there and wipe/scrub things to get it clean. Once its clean, rinse it out in there everytime you wash the truck and it will stay pretty clean without too much work.

A clean engine bay does more than just look good. It makes it much easier to find leaks should they occur. (trust me they will on a 10 years+ truck) And it"s easier to troubleshoot when everything is not caked in grease/dirt/oil.

Edit:

By the way, Welcome to Broncozone! >

I was going to give to a link to a pressure washer, but Seabronc and Roadkill were far more helpful

I do it the easy/ lazy way go to delta sonic and get the engine detailed for about 150

last time I did mine or rather had it done cost was about 300 for the interior under hood exterior and underside the guys that actually do the work hate me cuz this thing gets dirty fast and heavy so I do watch them doing it so nothing gets screwed with and I tip them well figure time is money and they are done in about 3 hours and yeah an extra good tip gets a bit of a better job
