How will mine do with a 26 ft salmon fishing boat? The trailer in the picture was loaded with fresh cut lumber (wet and heavy) and she did fine, **** the trailer alone weighs a ton (figuratively speaking).

I dont do a lot of towing with my bronc, I always use my 150. I do have an opinion on this though  and I may very well be wrong. Im sure you're Bronc would pull it, it might be rough on brakes depending on how the brakes on the trailer are set up. My only concearn would be length of the trailer vs length of the bronco should the trailer get out of shape. I guess you could call it the tail wagging the dog effect.

It depends on how you have the boat sitting on the trailer. I personally have towed a 22' Mako (old and bulky style) on a 6+ hour trip with no problem and I have the 5.0 with a stock suspension. With minimal tongue weight my bronco made the trip just fine (Across the very impassiable mountians of South FL). Braking was a pain in the ass however because the trailer brakes didn't work. I speculate that you would make the trip just fine, however I honestly don't know what a salmon boat looks like or how heavy they are.

THe P.O. and I used the 84 Bronco for years to pull the 16ft band trailer, which was 6500 lbs. loaded with gear. No major problems, but you did have to watch out for bad spots on the higway (like towing anything else) and distribute the weight properly. The 86 was used a few years to pull a 1000 gallon tank trailer with fertilizer, about 14,000 lbs. fully loaded, and would drag it through the mud even. I doubt the Bronco will have much trouble pulling a 26ft boat as far as weight goes, but I would get a weight-distributing hitch and electric brakes. JSM84

Pulling that kind of weight with an AOD would be scary to me. Make sure you have a good tranny cooler thats all I can say. Wouldn't hurt to get a temp guage for your tranny as well, could tranny heats up at least you can try cooling it down before it goes boom. I suppose you know not to use 4th gear while your towing, probably wont go fast enough to get it into 4th but just in case, dont do it

Yeah i've heard that about not using overdrive, and burning it out and whatnot, but I don't understand why? What is the dif between 3rd and 4th? BTW not really planning on towing the boat, my dad has a Tahoe for towing it I just wanted to know if I could.

Because theres very little if any gear reduction, its pretty much 1 to 1. Really ******* the tranny builds a ton of heat

Yeah, we have a g/\/\c product that has had to have the trans replaced numerous times because my oldass dad can't get it into his head that OD is NOT to be used when towing. He pulled a 16' Uhaul trailer loaded from Louisiana to NorthCarolina. When he brought it back to me, the truck made it about 5 miles and the trans died. Since then, we've had to repl. the trans 4 other times.

I kept getting in the trans shops face about it. Then I went with dad the other week in his _odge with a 20' iron cattle trailer on the back. With 8 head of cows in it. He just took off. I asked him about it being in OD. He says he forgets. That's when I realized that he must have been forgetting in the other truck all those times too.

I don't use the OD in my Bronco at all. It seems to shift alot when I do. I'm guessing the tires and lift don't help that kind of thing too much. I run it in drive and it seems to work like every other truck I've been in.
