What kind of fluid do I need to use when I change the fluid in my 79 Bronco? The fluid doesnt smell burned but it is very dirty. Why doesnt any of them have a drain plug? I hate to pull the pan off when it isnt leaking, but it needs to be done, I guess ill have to get a new gasket. How much does it hold? Does the trans filter have to be changed and is there anything difficult about it? I know somethings about automatic trannys are pretty complicated.

YES, GET A FILTER. IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO THROUGH THE TROUBLE OF TAKING THE PAN OFF, CHANGE THE FILTER TOO. THEY DON'T COST THAT MUCH. YOU CAN GET CHROME PANS OFF EBAY FOR 30 BUCKS OR SO WITH A DRAIN IN THEM IN CASE YOU HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN. I JUST CHANGED MINE AND TURNS OUT I HAVE TO REBUILD THE TRANNY ANYWAY!!!

if you have a uni-bit and welder you can get a weld in **** to weld in your pan at the lowest spot that way you dont have to drop it all the time
