I have an 84 with a straight 6 and the 4 speed manual transmission with the grany gear, I am going to be towing a boat this summer and figure it is time for a flush of the t case, does anyone know what is some good fluid to use?
An 84 should have a borg warner 1354 or a new process 203 aluminum ( dont quote me on the NP case they used one but not sure on the 203 ) You just use dextron 3 mercon tranny fluid in them . I dont know if Id use any synthetic in it /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
I did the same on mine and used ATF+IV (ten bucks a quart!) but mercon works. While your under there its a good idea to check the speed sensors o-ring thats on the top of the case (if you have the Borgwarner) they like to go bad and shoot out fluid
