I got back from vacation and noticed transmission fluid under the bronco after some investigating I found out that my transfer case is leaking from the bottom where the two halves come together. Is there a gasket that goes there? if so where can I get it? any one else ever have this problem and how did you fix it?

89bronco58 and i tore one of his t-cases down completely to diagnose a problem internally..we simply put silicone around it and sealed it back up...i dont exactly remember if it leaked or not and im not sure if that is one of the proper ways to seal it back up maybe someone else on here can post on the silicone idea and give me some insight as well..as for there being a gasket check with a local parts store or jeffs bronco graveyard

I don't believe there is a gasket for the two case halves, just use some RTV when you put'em together. My 84 NP208 is leaking from the rear hosuing, and I recently ordered a gasket set from JBG. ($22). Check that all of the bolts are tight, too, and there are no cracks. The aluminum 208 seems to me to be easily cracked or broken. JSM84

Found that leak on mine after replacing the rear seal. Had to pull it and break the halves cleaned it up and stuck it back together with RTV no LEAKS now. With it off I also replace both front seals and cleaned out the oil pump. Maybe should have done the bearings also. Only took an hour to get it off and broke open on the bench, with no special tools just strong arm it off. Need help to get it back onto the shaft though.

all we needed was torx bits, socket for the nuts to take the yokes off and a couple other odd misc. tools nothing special . and if you are slightly mechanically inclined you can do this task with a little time

Only need 1 "special" tool that is a T-40 torx head socket. The rear drive bolts are just 1/2 inch or 12mm 16 point sockets or combo wrench.
