Hello all!

Finally, the wife agreed to let me buy a '79 Bronco 351 V8. My first problem is the temperature gauge which does not work. I don't want to overheat the beast sooo... Where is the damn "sender" located, or maybe it's the wiring, or maybe it's the in-dash gauge itself... Where do I start?

Thanks and looking forward to meeting the Bronco Zone crew..

I'd start with making sure the wiring is OK. The sender is mounted on top of the intake manifold and has a single wire connection. If you do replace the sensor, do not use Teflon tape on the threads. They are designed to seal and the contact is required in order for the circuit to work. More than likely the sender is bad or the wire is disconnected. If you want a gauge that is calibrated in degrees rather than "cold, nice and warm, ouch", then think about an aftermarket gauge.

Good luck,

:)>-

you can ground the sender wire and turn key on and the gauge should peg out hot. if it does the sender is bad. if not it is either wiring or the gauge.

Fixed it! Thanks again for the info fellas... It was just a broken wire...

Respectfully,

Scott
