Taking off the cap...

Has anybody out there taken their cap off and experienced leaks? If so, were they bad? Any ideas on how to avoid/fix them if I take mine off? Any general stuff I should know about before I take this thing off? Thanks for any info, guys.

Mine hasn't leaked, just make sure that you put your weather stripping on the way it came off and make sure you don't hurt it either.
