Byppassing the safety switch isn't hard. Its located in the top corner of the tailgate near the latch. All you have to do is connect the two wires coming from the switch.

take the two wires goin into the gate (behind the left rear tail light) cut them and splice them directly to the motor wires this will eliminate the tail switch and safety switch down side is that you cant use the key to open but will find out if either are bad if it works after your done then one or both are bad if not then would suggest motor and or regulator also check the ground and if needed run a new one I ran a self tapper into the inside of the light opening with a wire and eye to one of the screws that secure the inner panel did not leave it of course but makes for a good ground when testing

another hing is the bracket that the motor and regulator is attached to look to be sure it is still attached esp. at the bottom if not let us know and I will tell you a real easy fix

I don't know if mine works because my door key doesn't fit in it. ???

Maybe previous owner changed it out. I need to get a key made for it. But bypassing the switch is a good idea.
