Starter Solenoid issues!!

Hey everyone,

I have a 91 EB 5.0 and I’m having issues with the wires that go to the starter solenoid (fender mounted) does anyone know which wires are considered hot wires and what they look like? Or better put which wires would directly connect to the positive battery terminal?

So from that link it talks about the power distribution stud... where is that located? Everything power wise for me is on the relay and I think that might be part of my problem...

Off topic:
(love the link in #2.
I seek the mini starter & 3G alt. to smooth the engine bay (no relay, no solinoid).
Just a different (ford hasa better) idea...

Welcome!


S = Start (Keyed Red/Light Blue from Ignition Switch)

M = Motor (Cable to the Starter)

B = Battery (Cable from your Battery + Terminal & From Alternator & to Fusible Links




Relay Usual Failures:
Check for continuity between relay mounting bracket and clean inner fender (ground).
Rust, grime, paint etc interferes with relay control circuit.

Relay contacts become welded close so starter runs on or pitted so no cranking.
