solid axle vs ttb gears

all right a quick question on this....a dana 44 is a dana 44 no matter what in regards to ring and pinion right? the same gears going into a ttb will go into a solid axle right?

OK cool, what about lockers? i ask because i am stripping a solid front axle out of a 78 and dont have the time or money for the conversion kit.
