Wow, this website is definitely turning me into a computer geek / bronco ******. Just too much good info! Here's one for you more knowledgeable folks: When I accelerate hard in my 96 351 with E40D, I get a low sounding shimmy. I then start getting a higher frequency (and volume) shimmy when I hit about 70 on the E-way. Sometimes it's a lot worse than other times and ot seems to do it a little more on asphalt than cement (although neither is the correct place for a bronco to be anyways!)

I just took it in for a second tire balancing (just 31 x 10.50's - no lift), and have changed the rear U joint on the rear driveshaft. No improvement. I didn't get into the double cardan because I was unsure of it. Could that be the prob? If so, what's the trick to changing one of those? Do I buy the whole thing assembled or is changing those two U joints in the double cardan something that you can do without a bunch of fancy equipment?

changing those u joints is just like changing any other. you just have to complete one before moving on to the other. as far as your shimmy goes, i would check the wheel bearings, and if you can, check to see how true the rotors are. i had that same thing on my explorer and it was the front rotors. hope this helps
