I just PM'd SeaBronc and asked him to take a look at this thread.im glad it works matt!!!! i agree with joe about looking at an 84+ wiring. What is the date code on your door sticker?
joe, we still have the little issue of what that other brake switch is for![]()
Here is SeaBronc's response.I just PM'd SeaBronc and asked him to take a look at this thread.post #20
weird i have cruise control also on my 83 but i didnt see a switch like that or vacum dump on it anywhere ill look again i might have missed it or mine could be in a diffrent spot. Here is SeaBronc's response.I do believe that I see a vacuum hose connected to the end of the switch. If so, it is not a brake light switch but instead it is the vacuum dump switch for the cruise control. On later models the function is duplicated by an electrical pressure switch on the master cylinder, ( the subject of a recall due to defective switches causing fires).

Well... I went out and took a look and Darn if he isn't right!!!
Gotta hand it to the man... He knows his stuff!
I never even *heard* of a vacuum dump switch/emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

SeaBronc sent me the wiring diagram for an '83weird i have cruise control also on my 83 but i didnt see a switch like that or vacum dump on it anywhere ill look again i might have missed it or mine could be in a diffrent spot.
hmm ok that sounds alot better. hmm maybe just a bad connection. thats y it wouldnt disangage the first time i apply the brake.i took a look on my 85 and its not there. i do have factory cruise control. according to the 84-86 wiring diagram the it pulls right off the stop light switch lt grn wire and from there goes to the cruise amplifier. ofcourse if it was just a vac switch with no electrical connection then it wouldnt be on a wiring diagram.
The vacuum hose that comes off of it loops around and travels through the firewall, just above the gas pedal. It then goes to this canister thing that has a cable that runs parallel to the throttle cable. I am fairly certain that this has something to do with the cruise control.i took a look on my 85 and its not there. i do have factory cruise control. according to the 84-86 wiring diagram the it pulls right off the stop light switch lt grn wire and from there goes to the cruise amplifier. ofcourse if it was just a vac switch with no electrical connection then it wouldnt be on a wiring diagram.
