I dont know New York's process as far as state inspection goes but I am took my cats off a while ago. All you have to do is take a tire tool or heavy screwdriver and bust up the porcelain core inside. If they look at it, it looks like a cat just not the internals of one. Texas says that it has to be in place and operational. I cut the pipe in front of it busted the inside of the cat up and removed as much as I could. Thats one way to do it.

A 95 has to be able to pass the NY inspection including hooking up to the computer. They are supposed to do a visual inspection as well. I don't believe they are doing a sniffer test. You probably will be ticketed if found without it.

Good luck,

If you work in a shop and don't give a F*** about inspection, why did you need to ask? Your truck info in your signature says you already don't have cats  .

Either you will need a couple of pipe couplings or you will need an expander so the new pipe will fit over the outside of the old pipe and inside the muffler pipe.
