can anybody tell me if the 79 bronco ever came from the factory with a nine inch? Ihere so many people talk down about the 8.8,isnt the only difference ring size. The desighn looks the same to me.I would have to say that the 8.8 is as strong as the 9".What do you guys think

I've had an '83 and now have a '90, '93 and '94. I don't know what came with a '79 but I can tell you a Ford 9" is much easier to rebuild and remove and replace. The 8.8" has to be rebult and "set up" in the differential case. The 9 " can be removed as a "pumpkin" and set up and rebuilt outside of the differential case.
You can have other pumpkins set up in different gear ratios, so you can change gear ratios quickly.
Availability and selection of parts seems to be better for the 9".
I have no idea which is stronger.
Maybe "the grass is always greener", but after rebulding two 8.8" differentials, I'd like a 9".
