Quick question

This might be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. I'm trying to get my tailgate window down and my current plan is to take a 12 volt battery and touch the window motor wires to the terminals to get the window down. Aside from being violently electrocuted from the deadly wrath of 12 volts, are there any other saftey issues, health concerns, or things I need to know before I do this? Call me scared, but I am afraid of electircal things. I'd rather not do anything unsafe. Safety first!

Which window are we talking about here? Be careful with the 12 volts. To date I don't believe that anybody has ever been electrocuted with 12 volts. Just stay out of the pool when checking it.

I actually do this all the time when I go to a junkyard I always take my 18 volt dewalt drill and screwdriver bits for taking things apart fast like interior pieces and the battery works good for rolling down the windows. I think the wires are red and yellow one way goes up the other down . You do have to be careful and make sure the harness you unplugged form the motor is out far enough and out of the way enough that it doesnt get caught in the regulator arms as they come down . Make sure you dont get caught up in them either as they will not stop and can hurt you bad . The 18 volts wont hurt the motor either the vehicle runs at around 14.2 and most of the stuff is tested at the factory at 24 volt for short duration . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

12 volts aint that bad.. just feels like youve been kicked in the chest if ur car is still running... jk but it really isnt too bad.

heres a cool story. i was working on this house with my dad doing a laudry room. i went to clip a wire in my way then i wake up on my floor... the ***** were welded together and i still wasnt sure what i clipped.. now i dont touch house electrical.

i am actually an electrician and believe it or not a man from my home town was actually killed one day unhooking trailer lights from his truck. it was raining and i still do not understand how it happened. volts do not **** anybody it is the amp's that ****. and it only takes 1 amp to **** somebody. its very rare and i have never seen it. and for your information most 120 volt recepticals in your home and carry up to 25 amps for a couple of second before tripping the breaker. just bumping my gums but maybe somebody got something out of it. go ahead friend and hook your battery up. you should be fine. just dont have wet hair and other stuf.... /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I did it and it worked fine. I was careful and nobody got hurt or killed /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> . I did notice a bar at the bottom of the tailgate was completely rotted and just flopping around on the inside of the tailgate as the window went up and down. I'm not sure what the bar does.
