question about a water pump..

wellp the newb (myself) has another dumb question. ive been working late lately and a buddie of mine decided to be nice so he came over and installed my water pump for me.. and apparently he lost a few of the bolts that hold the water pump on in the process, because as soon as he fired it up antifreeze began to ooze out of a bolt hole on the water pump. so just curious, but does anybody know if there is a water pump bolt kit out there? or just bolt kits in general?

also i knew someone was talking about efi to carb swaps earlier but i couldnt find that post again. just curious, but you have to replace the computer right? if so, where could i buy one?

yeah of course most people build engines from the ground up with no bolts so they usually have to buy these kinda bolts i dont know if broncograveyatd sell them but i know summitracing has them just ask for the arp bolt kit for a ford water pump and i know they will have it ... funn you guys tried crankin it up with bolts missin ... man be ceasy on the broncos man ... goodluck

try any auto parts stores, u might find some bolts there, and as for goign efi to carb, the computer shouldnt matter, your doing away with the fuel injection, im not 100% sure if u need it in there for anything other than the guages and they should still work fine, so just unhook what u need to in order to remove the fuel injection and tie it off somewhere and see how that works, it should be fine, only thing your going to have to do is figure out what your going to do with your fuel delivery because the efi fuel pump has too much pressure for a carb, most likely regulating it or removing the pumpo int he tank and running your own system

On an 86 I would remove the computer all together and put in a Duraspark II or something like a MDS system. The gauges don't depend on the computer. The 86 also had 2 fuel pumps, one low presure one in the tank and one high pressure one on the frame rail just under the driver seat. Removing the high pressure one should give you the proper pressure afor a Carb, around 7 - 9 PSI. If it is too high you can get a low pressure regulator from most auto parts stores. Another possibility is to deactivate both pumps and put a Holley inline pump inplace of the one on the frame rail.
