I have a 1985 Bronco II 2.8 carburated and 4X4 with manual trans. I replaced my pick-up coil or stator that was fried. With the new one in it started up after replacing many other parts such as EMC, coil and cap and rotor. Well on the test drive it shut down again and only after waiting 10 minutes it started again. I took it to a mechanic and he said even though the pick-up coil was new, it was bad.It was heating up then cooling off enough it would work again. Is this common for these Broncos?

Unfortunately that is true. I had the same problem and ignored that part for a month while I drove myself nuts replacing everything in sight  . I checked with an ACE mechanic on Fords and he told me to get another one, *** sure enough, that was it  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> . He says that it is not an uncommon occurance.

Good luck,

:)>-
