"---loses lots of oil---"

As in a qt. a day...? a qt. a week..??

OOPs, Just noticed "leak" in your title...

What I do is clean, (or have the eng. cleaned) top & bottom.

Once dry, it's easy to see where leaks are originating

Air coming out of the tank is due to the evaporative emissions line being plugged. One of the purposes of the carbon canister located in the front of the truck is to allow the pressure in the tank to relieve itself. The pressure is caused by the tank heating up and expanding. On the other hand it also allows air into the tank to fill the space made by fuel being sucked out as you are charging down the road. I would fix the problem since it prevents the tank from colapsing or over pressurizing.

Oil loss can be anything, do you have oil leaking out of the valve covers, oil pan, smoke while the engine is running?

Good luck,

:)>-
