Hey guys, I'm new to this site and really Broncos all together. I posted my pictures up in the Introductions forum. I am currently going through various parts of the vehicle and making upgrades as time and paychecks permit, so I have several questions. First, I know the owner had a lot of work done to it, so I don't know what's stock and what's been modified. If someone could give me a rundown of stock parts such as Transmission model, Xfer case model, axles & splines, rear ends, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. The second is, I know I should have everything checked out, but if I can't get that done, does anyone have an ordered list of what I should look at first?

I've already spent a few weekends with the wiring nightmare that someone else did and have currently rigged it up to where the electrical problems are solved. I've put a new carburetor on--Holley 2 bbl 500 cfm and switched the modified HEI distributer and coil back to points for the time being. This was part of the reason for the electrical problems. Anyway, I know this is long. Thanks for the help.

 The older models came with a dana 30 front end,If you have one most swap it out for a dana 44,much better.all broncos 66-77 came with a dana 20 transfercase, great units ,either a j-shift or t -shift,the rear is a ford 9 inch. The older models came with a small bearing rear end the weakest! You can check Wild Horses website [wildhorses 4x4.com].There are kits now to make the older units into large bearing units.I bought a 77 rear end this has the big bearing setup, and switched to 31 splines ,I believe all stock are 28 splinr rear axles.check that website it has real good basic explanations as to what is in what year
