The first task I decieded to take on was to change the steering wheel that was in it. It did have a grant 13" steering wheel, changed that to a 15" grant with a Ford emblem button. So, I thought I do this bymyself..in the parking lot at Advanced Auto. Well, things really did't go as planned. The old one came off easily but appearently when I put the new one on I somehow nic'd the hot wire. Even in the parking lot sparks were flying...smoke was rising...and I had my own sparks flying LOL. So, now that the wires are now fixed....the horn doesn't work. Grrr. It worked just before I pushed the button into the center of the wheel. Any suggestions on what to check now? I gotta have my horn or at least a bumper sticker that says, "Horn broke watch for finger"...but I'd much rather have my horn since I don't care for bumper stickers.

Also, another problem I'm having is that the button will not fit snuggly onto the wheel. There is about an 1/8" gap between the button and the wheel. From what I can tell the center steering rod (not sure what the technical term is) is what is preventing it from fitting correctly. Can I dremel the rod down 1/8" or is that a bad idea??? Any advice is appreciated...I don't wanna send it back....I love it LOL! <)

Thank You!

Rae, going by the sparks, you've probably blown the horn fuse. It's located in the fuse panel under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Examine the fuses with a flashlight, and it'll be apparent which one is blown.
