Hello everyone. I currently own a Jeep Wrangler (TJ edition). It is a 4 cylinder model. I have faith in it to take me across the most rugged terrain but it is pretty horrible as a daily driver (and it's weak for hauling stuff OR towing [the gas mileage is strangely bad for a small vehicle as well]). I'm considering selling the Jeep and picking up a Bronco (a nice 1995 is lurking locally). I realize that an 8 cylinder is a bit of a "gas guzzler" but,..well,.my Jeep only gets "mid teens" anyway. The Bronc looks like a MUCH more solid ride and I need a little more cargo space. I will NEVER be a "rock crawler" but I need my ride to haul camping gear and canoes (etc) across rough terrain but STILL be pleasant to drive around town. I like the ruggedness of the 1996 (and earlier) Broncos. I am willing to put it with the maintenence of an older vehicle if necesary. Please talk me into it. thanks.

Another option might be an XJ. We use my girlfriend's XJ a fair portion of the time since it has almost as much cargo as my Bronco and gets better gas mileage. It's got a straight 6 too so I'm sure it could haul canoes or other small boats no problem. Plus it gets decent mileage (almost 20 I think, never bothered calculating). I love my Bronco and I think it's great you are interested in them, I'm just saying think about how big of a jump you need to make. Also so you know, getting in the teens is about the BEST mileage you are going to get with a Bronco. A lot of people see sub 10 numbers and I've even heard of people only getting 6 or 7 mpg. Also, Bronco's aren't really ideal towing machines due to the short wheelbase.

All that being said it would definitely serve your purpose and perhaps you are like me and like to go slightly on the overkill side for what you are doing to make sure you can do what you need to do. Oh and in case ya don't know, all Bronco's are 1996 and earlier. After 96 they got replaced by the Excursion. There are also 5 generations (4 fullsize) of bronco's to choose from. If you want all the nice amenities and stuff I'd say the 95 should be good. The main problems with them (as far as I know since I don't own one) is they come with 8.8 rears and the automatic hubs aren't reliable.

Don't know if this helped or not, but welcome to the world of Broncos. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
