Man, what a headache! I just bought some new door latches from Toms Bronco and they were a huge pain in the jar to get to fit right. I'm happy with the end result, but holy crap - I was not expecting to have to grind off a ton of the arms and bend a new latch rod in order to get the one to fit right. I'm not sure about the passenger side yet - I haven't gotten that far.

The end result is nice - the door latches super tight and easy - and I haven't even put the new striker plate in.

Maybe I was just in denial about how easy it should or shouldn't be.... :-" Oh well, on to the next side I guess....

you shouldn't have to grind or cut any of the latch rods. They are adjustable. You should have just had to ***** them up or down. Pull the entire latch mechinism out of the door and it makes that adjustment a lot easier too.

That would be cool if all my rods were adjustable, but they are all just steel rods with a 90 degree bend on each end. No threads. Now, as far as getting the latch rod back on - if it fell of the handle up top too - I would pull it out and get new clips to hold them n place - then reinsert the handle with the rod connected. Since the door handle just a ***** on the door skin, and a nut on the inside, that's easy.

Those little clips are a pain too, but if you have a small set of needle nose that will help a bit. Brush a bit od WD-40 on the very ends, and that will smooth things along too. But without the clips to hold them in place, it's just gonna fall out again.
