Ok, so I have a dilemma. I love the Bronco I have. It is a '93 Full Size XLT. Burgundy & White. It has a little rust here and there (mostly on the tailgate of course). It needs a new brake line and a new battery, but is in fine shape other than that. I have already done work to keep the rear window working. It has about 120,000 miles on it, but the engine was replaced and it only has about 75,000 miles on it. Its got Power windows & locks, a towing package and the sweet wheels.

Anyway, I haven't driven it in almost 2 years. I took a new job and I have to drive like 70 miles round trip every day for work. With the cost of gas, I leave it parked. I don't even have it registered or insured at the moment and haven't bothered to replace the brake line or battery.

A guy I know has been bugging me for years to buy it. I always told him no because I had no intention of selling it. Now that I am not driving it, I am considering letting him buy it. I would rather see someone else getting some use out of it and enjoying it, then it sitting out behind my house.

So, with that said, what I need help with is figuring out what its worth. What is a good source for me to figure out how much to sell it for? I know the various used car price books are out there, but are they really the best source for value, especially on something like Bronco's?

Anyway, your input it much appreciated.

Thanks!

One point of view;

When you have a hand full of $$$'s and your happy--AND-- the buyer feels like he got his $$$'s worth..........

Then that's what the rig is worth.

Otherwise, you need to "jump thru all the hoops" .....do all the research,

run all the adds, etc. ...in order to get every poss. penny due you for the truck.

i would probably just do www.kbb.com to get at least a general idea, then you can consider the fact you have a newer engine in it and what not and adjust the price. but thats just my 2 cents.

Not sure where you're located, but most areas have a local Auto Trader magazine or website where you can buy/sell the Bronco. You can look through the mag for similar rigs and what their asking price is. Kelly Blue Book is also good, but it's hard to get $5000 for a truck more than 10 years old. An average price here in Texas for a 92-95 Bronco in fair to excellent condition is $3000-$4000. The kicker in your situation is the bronco not being driven for such a long time, since some of the mechanical parts will go bad. I would ask for $3800-$4000, and take anything over $2000 cash. I'm curious as to what caused the engine to go bad at 45,000 miles...
Actually, I replaced the engine at about 90,000 miles. The oil pump went bad climbing a long steep grade hill on interstate here in WV (sandstone mountain if anyone is from around here). Threw a rod right quick. I had an aftermarket warranty on it at the time and they bucked up for a used engine that had been refitted or whatever. It was in great shape, so I was pretty happy with it. That engine had 45,000 on it when I got it. I have put about 30,000 on it since then, thus the 75,000.

Thanks to everyone for their advice!

in this area have seen both extremes in price like the 400 I paid for my 93 and the 1800 Paid for the 88 also my cousin had one he paid 4500 for and it was a 94 (sold three weeks later for 200 more when he found a Centurian)

Don't sell.. I'm telling and soon as you do your gonna regret it . You could still drive it on the weekeneds or since it's not a daily driver you can take your time to make a mean jacked up 4x4... I went through a similar situation with my 89 i had and i sold it in 2001 and i been having the bronco blues since but the bug bit me and i went and bought a 93 a couple months ago ..i took my time did some work and hopefully i can drive it soon ...

I wouldn't sell it either but if you are. I would do the Auto Trader thing first. Also put a sign in the window. Everybody wants a bronco. And they will pay for it. As long as the interior is in good shape then you can ask alot. The engine will be expected to need work because of how old it is.
