Im going to buy my first bronco 2 on sunday from a buddy. It ran fine a month ago when he bought it, but being the fool that he is he thought he would install a new battery lol. the problem being is he installed it backwards. Now its dead, wont do anything at all. Any ideas where i need to start looking for the trouble? My first thought was maybe a fuse or a fuseable link some where but he said they all look good.

What yr is it ? You will probably be replaceing some electronics . Reverse polarity is never good especially with the amperage a battery is capable of supplying . You should be able to find all the parts you will need here though . Need to get a good wiring diagram and start checking things I would start with the EEC if theres power going in to it when the key is cycled there should be power coming out to the fuel pump relay if no then that would be the first thing to replace . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Just a simple question, did you take the battery to a garage to get it checked and recharged? If not, do that first, then make sure the right leads are connected to the (+) and (-) posts. It is too ******* an alternator to use it to charge a battery that is flat dead.

Good luck,

:)>-

Well guys and gals, GOOD NEWS. Got it home about noon today, Turns out it was just a fusable link. Installed a new one and she fired right up. Everything works great on it except the gauges, ac and the pass. window. Even the 4x4 works. Looks like i got a steal.

Hey,

My battery died a couple months ago (left the lights on), and I finally got someone to give me a jump at about 2am (parked in front of bar). I didn't have a flashlight and hooked up the jumpers wrong, yeah I know, it was a pretty stupid mistake. But anyway, I fried the fusible link going to the solenoid. Ever since then, when I turn the key to start it, it would just click and you would have to turn the key a couple dozen times to get it to crank. It ends up my solenoid was fried, but luckily they're cheap. So, I'm just giving you the heads up that if you have a little trouble starting, it could just be your solenoid.

yea man, thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and replaced mine just to be on the safe side. The really good news is that i just started working at a 4X4 shop. And have access to the tools and toys lol. tires and rims are going on friday. Then comes the lifts.
