Anyone have anything they've done to their spare tire racks to make them better than factory? I've got mine off and am repainting it. Been thinking about getting a high lift jack mount somewhere on there. Looking for more ideas. Thanks guys.

thats a badass wheel cover
I don't have a wheel cover what do you mean? That's a factory XLT 15x7.5 chrome wheel, if that's what you mean. My original steel one was rusty and kept loosing air pressure all the time, so I got that one off a wrecked f150 at the scrapper.

I turned mine into a tube door for the Bronco, and made one for the other side out of another one. I decided not to use the carrier for the 35' spare, since I've seen them rip the rear quarter panel. JSM84

I would do that Gerry Can idea but I think that the people w motor cycles would use it before I do. Also I don't think there's enough room for the jack and the can on that right side.

JSM84 what did you use for the door strikes with those tube doors? The same strike for the tailgate? Sounds interesting. Have any pictures? That sounds like a summer time project!

Thanks guys!

Here's the link to the thread on tube doors, including mine:

http://broncozone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7098

I fabbed a latch to hook onto the stock door striker. If you look at the one pic of the dorr on my 84 Bronco, you can sorta see the latch. It's a notched piece of metal, a bolt and a spring to release it to open the door. I added two pieces of rod in a "V" shape inside the tubing to add support, although it really doesn't need it. (No pic of that).

Here are a couple of what I did. The rack to the right of the tire holds a jerry can.

This on kinda shows it.

I like the jack sideways so I can fit into my garage.

Thanks for those pictures Wileec. I'll let you know how mine comes out and take some pics of it. I'm starting the painting this weekend if I have time. I have three side jobs to do in two days. So we will see what happens.

I'm kind of glad people are more into remodeling their homes these days instead of buying new ones. That makes my wallet a bit bigger. Which makes my truck look bigger (eventually). I've been doing a mess of chair rail, wainscoating and crown moulding jobs in peoples house around the block. I've been cutting outside and they come up and see what I've done and I give them a price on theirs. And WHAM! More money more mods! I love it.
