A lot of things can cause your power loss. Could be you simply need a tune up? Check the easy stuff first.

Pull of your distributor cap and check the cap and rotor for corosion or burned contacts. Also check for dry rotted, melted spark plug wires. Pull the plugs and check for proper gap and that they are not fouled.

Some other things to look for: clogged air filter, underinflated tires. Speaking of which, are the 33's a recent upgrade? 33's shouldn't make a major difference but when going to a larger than stock tire, you will lose some power if you dont re-gear.

These are just a few easy things to check. Also, check to see if the computer is displaying any trouble codes.

You have tires on the truck that are 5 inches larger than stock, if you want your truck to behave like stock then you will need a gear change, or switch back to the massive stock 28 inch tire. You should have 4.11's for that tire combo

Another thing you can look at. The part on the throttle body that the cable hooks to, on mine it was stucking wide open. Kinda sucked cause I was in the bush when it started doing it. I unhooked the cable and turned this bracket a few times to see why it was sticking, I noticed it was bent and that I wasnt getting full throttle. There is a small rivet type thing sticking out the bottom and it was catching on the throttle body, I bent the bracket up so that it wouldnt catch anymore any I had a fair amount of power increase. I too have 33's and lack of power is something you cant get away from. Have a look though maybe yours is doing the same as mine was. I did it to a friends 86 with 36's and he said the difference was night and day.

mine does the exact same thing stusainte. Mines all 100% stock '95 302 and it happens mostly going uphill, but has happened on flat road. like you said, its like you really have to punch it and downshift it for it to kick in and go... its not a sputter or a misfire, but i don't know what it is either. i thought the first few times it happened that i was running out of gas (cuz the damn gas gage doesnt work)
