Lets weigh in, Milemarker hubs vs. Warn. Who likes what and why? I have always been a Warn guy but have heard great things about Milemarker as well. I am going to convert my auto hubs to manual and are wanting to see why the Milemarkers are about 2/3 the cost of Warn.

Let me know what you think.

Well, I have Warn but have never seen any negative comments about Mile Marker. I think it is more in how you maintain and treat your hubs than what brand they are. Here is a link that may help you make up your mind. http://chevy.off-road.com/chevy/article/ar...l.jsp?id=200787

This type of question is like what is the best tire? The next question is, For what?

Good luck,

:)>-

I have to agree with the previous reply, I've never heard anything bad about the MileMarkers but I think in large part with the Warn's you're paying for the name & that little sticker they put in every box. I've never seen a qualitative comparison but MileMarker just doen't have the name that Warn does but until they start importing them from China & selling them @ Wal-Mart I wouldn't worry too much about it.

X3 on what Seabronc and Broncobill said. I've been running Warns with no issues and the few people I've heard of breaking one, got it replaced promptly through with the lifetime guarantee. I don't know if Milemarker has the same guarantee, but I've only heard one guy complain about their quality. I think you'll be pretty safe with wichever you choose. After all, anything will eventually break if you beat it hard enough.

That is what I was thinking but my experience has only been with Warn (which has always been great) and just wanted to confirm with a larger group what everyone thinks. I am going to try the Milemarkers just so I can say I did (and save about $50.00). I dont think they will let me down for the kind of wheeling I do but I will let you know if they do.

Thanks for the help in the decision...

How exactly are you supposed to "maintain and treat" them? I just had the Warn locks installed...

I can't speak for anyone else but I try to clean & lubricate mine every year or so. If I go trail-riding and submerge them I usually break them open spray them out with oil & re-grease them when I get home (I also pull my diff covers and check/change that gear oil as well). If I try to engage/disengage the hubs & they stick I usually drive it in reverse for a few feet & try again. I have *personally* seen guys wail a hub with a mallet when it didn't turn rather than moving the truck a few feet. It's been MY experience that when you beat your toys with a hammer they usually break.

A hub is not a solid chunk of metal, it's a collection of moving parts that is sometimes subject to extremes of temperature & environment, treat it as such. Inspect them periodically and when you do, take the opportunity to clean out the old grease & any grit or contaminants trapped in it and regrease the whole thing

THANKS for the tips. Seems like common sense. I don't plan to use it as a swamp buggy so I think I'll be fine in this department B)
