headlight question

I've recently purchased a beat up 75 bronco with hopes of getting it back somewhere to original in my lifetime. i'm just 24, so hopefully i've got some years ahead of me. anyhow, quick question: when i dim my lights they completely turn off. i checked the dimmer switch in the floor and everything looks ok. bad fuse or what? don't know, found this forum and thought i'd try to get an answer. thanks.

First welcome to the Zone. There is allot of great people here. I am not sure of your problem but I know someone here will know.

Check your headlights first, make sure they are good. Even though your brights work, the low beams might be out. Second, if they are good, turn on the headlights on low and make sure you have power at the plug going to the headlights. If not, it is probably somewhere in the wiring or switches. Start back tracing. It may sound like a daunting task but on those older systems, they are really quite simple to trace.

thanks guys. i went home last night and took the headlights out and cleaned the connections and low and behold they begin working again. not sure if this is the only problem, but now that its working i'll take it. i guess sometimes taking things apart and putting them back together really does work? thanks again

You will find that a lot on an older vehicle, the corrosion gets in there and all it takes is a little cleaning and its good to go sometimes.
